The completely redesigned 2026 G. Loomis Asquith brings new freshwater and saltwater models to the water. Light in hand, quick to recover, and built for anglers who expect exceptional feel and precision, the Asquith remains the flagship of the G. Loomis fly-rod lineup.
At the center of the new series is Shimano’s Spiral X Core blank construction. The design increases multidirectional rigidity while maintaining a remarkably light swing weight. The result is efficient energy transfer, fast recovery, precise tracking, and dependable strength when the cast—or the fish—demands more.

Global Technology, Woodland Craftsmanship
The Asquith represents a collaboration between Shimano’s advanced carbon engineering in Japan and the rod-building experience of G. Loomis in Woodland, Washington.
The blanks are rolled in Shimano’s Spiral X production facility in Kumamoto, Japan. Each rod is then designed and hand-finished by G. Loomis in Woodland, combining advanced materials with careful construction and premium components.
That partnership is evident throughout the rod—from the responsive blank and quick recovery to the refined reel seat, cork, and guide train.
Choosing the Right Asquith
The right model depends on where you fish, the flies and lines you use, and the species you plan to pursue.
A lighter freshwater model may be the right fit for technical trout water and controlled presentations. Heavier freshwater models offer more authority for streamers, larger rivers, and stronger wind. In saltwater, line weight should reflect the size of the fly, typical conditions, and the power of the fish rather than casting distance alone.
