➤ Choose the Right Landing Net

The right landing net depends on the species you target, where you fish, and how you carry your gear. Compact hand nets work well for walk-and-wade trout fishing, while longer handles and larger baskets provide additional reach for boats, deeper water, and larger fish.

Consider basket size, handle length, overall weight, and attachment options. Rubber and rubber-coated baskets help reduce tangling and are generally easier on fish during catch-and-release handling.
