Stillwater Flies

Target trout and other freshwater species in lakes, ponds, and reservoirs with stillwater flies designed for fishing throughout the water column. Explore chironomids, leeches, damsels, dragonflies, scuds, balanced flies, streamers, dry flies, and other productive lake patterns.

Choose the Right Stillwater Fly

The right stillwater fly depends on the season, water depth, available food, and where fish are feeding. Chironomids, scuds, and balanced patterns can be effective beneath an indicator, while leeches, streamers, damsels, and dragonflies work well with slow retrieves or sinking lines.

Consider fly size, weight, color, profile, and sink rate. Carrying a mix of surface, suspended, and subsurface patterns makes it easier to adjust as insect activity, light, temperature, and fish location change.
