G. Loomis IMX PROv2 ShortSpey Steelhead Rods

NEW for 2026 — IMX-Pro V2 ShortSpey Comes to Steelhead

After several years of success with the IMX-Pro V2 Trout Spey series, G. Loomis has expanded the lineup with purpose-built steelhead models. The new 11'11" 5-weight, 7-weight, and 8-weight rods are designed specifically for modern two-handed steelhead anglers who demand versatility, efficiency, and exceptional casting performance.

These rods were developed for the style of fishing most Pacific Northwest anglers know best—covering water with swung flies. Whether you're skating dries for aggressive summer fish, swinging traditional patterns through classic runs, or fishing Skagit heads and sink tips during the heart of winter, the IMX-Pro V2 ShortSpey delivers the smooth power and line control needed to fish effectively all day.

The compact 11'11" length strikes an ideal balance between casting performance and maneuverability. It's long enough to mend efficiently and control long swings, yet short enough to fish comfortably from brush-lined banks, drift boats, or smaller rivers where traditional 13- to 14-foot rods can feel cumbersome.

At the heart of every IMX-Pro V2 is G. Loomis' proven Conduit Core construction paired with the GL7 Resin System. Together they produce a lighter, more responsive blank with excellent recovery speed, reduced swing weight, and outstanding sensitivity. The progressive medium-fast action loads easily with today's Skagit and Scandi systems, making effortless casts while maintaining excellent touch and loop control.

The result is a rod that casts confidently, fishes comfortably from daylight until dark, and has the power reserves to pressure large steelhead when the moment finally arrives.

Finished with premium cork grips, chrome guides, and a custom aluminum reel seat, every IMX-Pro V2 ShortSpey is handcrafted in Woodland, Washington and built to the exacting standards G. Loomis has become known for.

Whether you're chasing chrome-bright summer runs, winter fish tucked into heavy current, or simply looking for one of the most versatile compact steelhead rods available, the new IMX-Pro V2 ShortSpey deserves a serious look.
