Woolly Bugger - Black

A hard to beat classic that is often the first streamer that anglers reach for. It catches all kinds of fish and represents many swimming things. Stock up on all the colors!
Travis (GFS Owner) was asked one day, if he could only carry a handful of flies, what would they be. What would he grab on the way out the door not knowing the river, or conditions? The Wooly Bugger - Black #8 made the list.

The black Woolly Bugger is one of those patterns you can tie on almost anywhere and feel confident. In a single fly, you get the suggestion of leeches, small baitfish, dragonfly nymphs, and all kinds of big, buggy protein that trout, bass, and panfish are looking for. The dark profile shows up beautifully in off-color water, yet still looks natural in clear conditions, which makes it a reliable choice for rivers, lakes, and stillwaters through every season.
Fish it any way you like: stripped with short, sharp pulls, slow crawled along the bottom, or swung down and across on a tight line. The flowing marabou tail and pulsing hackle give it life even when you pause the retrieve, often triggering eats from larger, more cautious fish. Whether you are just starting to build a fly box or restocking a seasoned streamer selection, a handful of black Woolly Buggers is essential gear for anyone who targets predatory fish.
