Dial In the Depth. Stay Connected to the Fly.

The Scientific Anglers Sonar Stillwater Seamless Density is a new-for-2026 family of blended-density sinking lines built specifically for stillwater trout. Instead of an abrupt transition between sinking sections, Seamless Density technology creates a smooth change in density that eliminates hinging and maintains a straighter connection to the fly.

Choose from three density combinations—Sink 1/3, Sink 3/5, or Sink 5/7—to target different levels of the water column. Each combination pairs a slower-sinking section with a faster-sinking head, giving you a predictable way to get flies down and keep them working at the depth where trout are feeding.

The lines feature a long 45-foot head and are overweighted by two line weights, providing the mass needed to cast multiple flies, long leaders, and longer distances.

Why We Like It:
Stillwater trout rarely stay at one depth all day. The Seamless Density system makes it easy to adjust your depth without changing the basic feel of the line. The blended-density construction keeps the line connected to the fly instead of creating the hinge effect that can occur between conventional sinking sections.

Three Lines. Three Depth Ranges.

Match Your Line to Where the Trout Are Feeding.

The Seamless Density family gives stillwater anglers three distinct sinking profiles:

  • Sink 1/3 — Intermediate running line with a Sink 3 head. Designed to get below surface chop and fish approximately 6 feet deep.
  • Sink 3/5 — Sink 3 running line with a Sink 5 head. Designed to search the middle of the water column at approximately 12 feet.
  • Sink 5/7 — Sink 5 running line with a Sink 7 head. The fastest-sinking option, designed for working deeper water and dredging the bottom at approximately 18 feet.

Actual fishing depth will vary depending on fly selection, retrieve speed, leader length, and conditions.

Seamless Density Technology

Traditional multi-density sinking lines can create a noticeable hinge where two different densities meet. Scientific Anglers' Seamless Density construction blends the densities together for a smoother transition.

That creates a more direct connection from the rod to the fly, improving contact and helping anglers detect subtle takes while maintaining the intended sinking profile.

Important Line Weight Information

The Sonar Stillwater Seamless Density is overweighted by two line weights. Select the line weight designated for your rod rather than sizing down based on the actual grain weight.
