Cover the Water Column. Find the Fish.
The new-for-2026 Scientific Anglers Sonar Stillwater Seamless Density Parabolic is designed to sink in a U-shaped profile, keeping your flies working through a broad section of the water column during the retrieve. With a Sink 3/Sink 5/Sink 3 density profile, a powerful two-line-weight-overloaded taper, and seamless transitions between densities, it's built specifically for serious stillwater trout fishing.
A Better Way to Fish the Middle of the Water Column
Stillwater trout don't always feed at one depth, and the Sonar Stillwater Seamless Density Parabolic is designed to help you keep your flies in the zone longer.
The line features a Sink 3/Sink 5/Sink 3 density profile that creates a distinctive U-shaped sinking profile. The middle section sinks faster than the running line and tip, causing the line to dive through the water column before rising toward the fly. This allows anglers to effectively search a broad range of depths during the retrieve rather than keeping the fly at a single level.
Scientific Anglers' Seamless Density technology gradually blends the different sink rates together, eliminating abrupt transitions between densities. The result is less hinging and a more direct connection between your line and flies, which can improve control and bite detection.
The line is also overweighted by two line sizes, giving it the mass needed to turn over multiple flies, long leaders, and the longer casts commonly required on stillwater. Scientific Anglers recommends using the designated line weight for your rod.
Textured hang markers at 10 and 20 feet from the tip give you useful reference points for judging distance and depth. AST Plus adds improved shooting performance and durability, while welded loops make leader and backing connections quick and easy.
The Parabolic is particularly effective for patterns such as water boatmen, backswimmers, blobs, and other flies that need to be fished through the middle portions of the water column.

Why We Like It
The Parabolic is a specialized stillwater line with a very specific job: keep your flies searching through the water column rather than simply sinking straight down. The Sink 3/5/3 profile creates a useful U-shaped presentation, while the seamless density transitions help maintain a direct connection to the flies throughout the retrieve.
For anglers who spend serious time fishing stillwaters, it's another valuable tool for dialing in depth and finding where the trout are feeding.
