➤ Choosing the Right MOW Tip

MOW Tips are designed to pair with Skagit heads, giving anglers different combinations of floating and sinking sections. Shorter sinking sections are useful for shallower presentations, while longer sinking sections help fish deeper water. Current speed, fly weight, and line compatibility also matter.

Light, Medium, Heavy & Extra Heavy: RIO's standard MOW Tips use T-8, T-11, T-14, and T-17 sinking materials, respectively. Match the tip to your Skagit head, rod, and the flies you plan to fish.

Specialty MOW Tips: iMOW Tips feature intermediate rear sections, 3D MOW Tips use multiple densities, and Long MOW Tips are designed for longer Spey setups. Availability varies by model.

The best tip isn't always the heaviest one. Choose a setup that casts comfortably and keeps your fly fishing effectively through the swing.
