Skagit Heads & Lines

Build your swing setup with Skagit shooting heads and integrated fly lines for Spey, Trout Spey, and suitable single-hand rods. Short, powerful Skagit heads are designed to turn over tips and larger or weighted flies using water-loaded casts. They work well where backcast room is limited, provided you have space to form a D-loop and establish your anchor.

➤ Choosing Your Skagit Setup
  • Separate shooting heads: Pair with a running line and compatible tip. Loop-to-loop connections let you change heads as your fishing needs change.
  • Integrated Skagit lines: Combine the head and running line in one line, eliminating the rear head connection passing through your rod guides.
  • Compact trout setups: Lighter Skagit heads give Trout Spey and suitable single-hand rods options for swinging smaller flies on smaller water.

Choose grain weight using the recommendations for your specific rod and line system. Rod length, tip weight, and fly size also affect how the setup casts. Check whether your chosen line requires a separate tip and running line before heading to the water.
