A proven Galvan Torque, finished a little differently.

Gunmetal Grey first caught our attention on Galvan's G.E.N. reel and later on the Swing Spey Reel. We liked the finish enough that we asked Galvan to build a run of Torque Fly Reels in Gunmetal Grey for Gorge Fly Shop.

The result is one of our favorite fly reels in a clean, understated finish you won't find in Galvan's standard Torque color lineup. It looks equally at home on a lightweight trout rod, a steelhead setup, or a serious saltwater stick.

The color may be different, but underneath it is the same Galvan Torque Fly Reel that has earned a reputation for dependable performance across an unusually wide range of fly fishing.

The Torque combines a lightweight, heavily ported frame and spool with Galvan's proven carbon-fiber drag system, large-arbor design, and precise MicroTune adjustment. Smaller sizes remain light enough for trout rods, while the larger models offer the backing capacity and drag control needed for steelhead, salmon, and saltwater.

It's also a reel that has changed very little over the years, and that's part of the appeal. The Torque is simple, durable, easy to maintain, and built to do its job when a fish finally starts taking line.

Freshwater to Saltwater

Is the Galvan Torque saltwater safe? Yes. The Torque's anodized aluminum construction is designed for use in both freshwater and saltwater. As with any reel fished in the salt, rinse it thoroughly with fresh water after use and follow normal reel-care practices.

From trout and steelhead to tropical flats and bigger saltwater species, the Torque makes an excellent crossover reel for anglers who would rather own gear that gets fished than gear that sits on a shelf.

Galvan reels are fully machined and assembled by the Galvan family in Sonora, California. The Torque is machined from 6061-T6 aluminum and built around a design that emphasizes strength, low weight, straightforward operation, and long-term serviceability.
